I am pondering over Roger's excellent posting and I am wondering
how these losses might affect an old boater like myself:

Internal parasitic losses:.......... I don't know about internal
parasitic
losses, but I have a few external ones: Inland Revenue, Council Tax
to name but two.... oh and offsprings.

Friction........................... I will leave it to the younger
members
(no pun intended) to discuss frictional losses. Young engines/boaters
have more frictional losses?

windage in the crankcase.............. Ah that is something I can
understand. I usually say *pardon me*.
