We had a Scottish Mini (or maybe even micro) GIG at Linlithgow last night when Niall, Iain and I went along to welcome Andrew and Wendy to "our " canals. After a drink on board Fiona, we set off in search of food and as the Four Mary's was fully booked (on a Thursday?? In all the years we have been canalling in this area, we have not yet managed to arrive at this pup when they had free tables. Even when I have tried to prebook, it has been fully booked). We wandered along and decided on an Indian restaurant but when we went in and Andrew had arranged to have his laptop battery charged, we wondered if we had made a bad choice. There were no other diners there and in fact, none came in while we were there although they did seem to be doing lot of take away meals. The decor was not particularly inspiring but we were amused by the menu which contained such items as "Roof lifter" which Wendy and I had and it was very good. I will leave Andrew to tell you about the wine list, which was very unusual to say the least. However, the meals were fine, the staff were very friendly and the chat was good. In fact, often the staff joined din the chat when they heard us talking about something of interest to them :-) After the meal we adjourned to Fiona for coffee.
It was good to hear that Andrew and Wendy are enjoying their trip on the Lowland canals and the good weather we arranged for them has made it all the more enjoyable.
