Date - 2 3 July Day - Sunday Monday Start - Napton Top End - Below Hillmorton
We arrived at the boat just after 6-30 on Sunday evening. The plan was to take mum out for the week to Crick and back before driving down to my Grandson's Christening on Saturday. We moved the boat down into the lock to load mum and the bags onboard, before we had finished a boat came down the pound behind us so the last bags were put onboard going down. If we had not been able to get the bags on we would have stopped just below the top lock, but now we were on our way and we moored about 8-30 for the night just past the water point at the bottom of the flight. We had ben there about three quarters of an hour when the boat that followed us from the top arrived and tucked in behind us. We were both out on the bend as the rest of the mooring was full. The night was sweltering and we had both slides and all side doors open all night. Monday The boats around us were on the move about seven and when I walked the dog there were three in the first pound going up. We left about 9-30 with a target of Weltonfield for the night. I called in at Midland Chandlers to pick up a door catch to replace one I broke last week and then set off for the locks, as I passed the fist boat a chap asked if I was going up the flight. Some one to share with I though, but no. He then told me the bottom gate was hanging off and the flight was closed. BW had been to look but had now gone away.We continued to the marina to wind and take on water while we hatched a new plan, it would be the North Oxford. About a mile up the N Oxford we stopped in the shade for lunch, right behind Bletchely and Argus who were advertising diesel at 49p ltr. That was better than Wigrams who were advertising it at 52p. After lunch we pushed on in the heat to just below Hillmorton Locks where we moored on the long term moorings for a BBQ diner at about 5-30. When we had finished eating things had cooled down a bit so we set off yet again to find a quiet mooring by the golf course a short way through bridge 68. -- Brian <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Visit my Web site at http://www.harnser.info ------------------------ Yahoo!
