Day 3 - Monday July 3rd - Slapton Wharf to Stoke Bruerne
29 miles 2 furlongs, 15 locks, 13 hours 55 minutes

A proper day's boating at last! Set off at 6.20am, while it was still
relatively cool. Stopped at Tesco's in Leighton Buzzard for a quick bit
of shopping, and again at Wyvern Shipping to get a new bottle of gas.
Good run down the Soulbury three, not shutting any gates as there were
boats coming up. Through Stoke Hammond lock just after midday, and
settled down to the long virtually level run to Stoke Bruerne. Lots of
bottled water drunk during the day, must have been over 2 litres, to try
and keep reasonably hydrated. Got to the botton of Stoke Bruerne flight
at 7.50pm, after a serious session of bug slapping. Went up the first
five locks and mored in the longer pound at 9.30pm. Time for a quick
shower before walking up to the Boat for a few well earned pints of beer.

Weather - Sunny.
Forecast - Thundery Showers.
