This is the Trent rally of the Steam Boat Association which happens
every year on this w/e - they are based at the sailing club at the Soar
/ Trent / Erewash junction and make a day-trip up to Normanton /
Shardlow / the Erewash (alternates between days and years). When I
attended a year or two ago, I was struck by the risks some of the
launches were taking e.g. by overtaking nbs on the blind bends in
Shardlow. I wrote a sharp letter to 'Funnel' pointing out that if there
was an accident they'd get squashed - eventually one of them will be and
then they'll learn!
