There does seem to be a new type of boater who does not know what a
mallet and mooring pin are for. By BW encouraging boats to only moor at
selected sites of their choosing that contain concrete edges,  stony
towpaths, nicely spaced rings and not a blade of grass in sight (which
must do wonders for the local wildlife), yet another of the freedoms
enjoyed by the early [1] pleasure boaters has been removed.
