Some time ago I learnt that the Oricle in Reading wanted silly money
from the IWA to put a publicity stand in. Having buggerd up the
opportunity to make two way boating possible it appears they make no
concesions to charities - at least not waterways ones

I have said I will spend the two Saturdays and Sundays before the
Festval boating through the Oricle complete with banners, bunting &
PA.

If anyone has a day or half day to spare (or more) I think we could
attract a lot of attention with a convoy. However with the turn below
County Lock I think it would be wise to limit boat length to 55ft.

Any takers please let me know the times you will come. I envisage
meeting by the Queens Road car park (just below the trafic lights) at
10am and packing up at about 3 or 4 pm.

Also please note that there is restricted headroom at Highbridge so
bunting may be better tied along the handrails or no more than about
12 inches above the roof. This is especially true if anyone thinks of
using the "Abbey loop" to turn round.

I think I already have one taker if he is still free.

Thanks

Tony Brooks
