I tend to buy fuel from a hirebase provided the price is OK - good throughput and they are likely to take good care of fuel going into their own boats aren't they! I'm sure this attitude will stir up some adverse comments, but better than stirring up the gunge in a little used storage tank. I had one holiday ruined by an ill-advised fill-up. Engine trouble for days and an awful feeling of foreboding as I approached a long tunnel. No RCR in those days and diesel systems were the same mystery to me then that they remain to this day!
