We have been up and down through Blackburn and Burnley a number of times over the last few years and have yet to have any problems at all. I could imagine that it might be different around Blackburn locks if you were there on a warm afternoon at the weekend or in school holidays but we haven't seen anything. The last time we were there (about a month ago) we had a group of young lads (about 10 year olds) at the lock by the BW yard but there were just interested in how the lock worked and wanted to help with the gates - no attempt to get on the boat or cuase any trouble.
We went down Wigan last Friday and, whilst we had no problems, we were told that there had been a lot of problems with de-watering pounds overnight. The night of Sunday 2nd July had seen 6 emptied.
