Because of the proximity of the town in that to the east there are two hire boat bases then between 1500 and 1700 on fridays and saturdays is very busy above the lock. Today it has been chaos below the lock between 1500 and 1900, there were so many boats waiting to go up that it was three abreast the visitor moorings below the lock. In view of this we plan to get to Bradford on the way back during mid week and aim to moor as early as is practical. The town is well worth visiting with many well kept old buildings,the Tithe Barn, West Barn and the Saxon Church all being well worth visiting.
