Hello again Graham,
Re-reading your reply about moorings, I have to say that *immediately* below
Sonning lock is a stretch of water that I'd be hard pushed to get to the side
of for mooring purposes & I couldn't imagine anyone doing so. Through the
bridge further down is the stretch that's been peppered with no mooring
notices [unless you phone 079** ******]
However, you are convinced so, are we at cross-purposes here?

Hello again Dave,
Back in 1960, I walked into the front room where my dad was watching telly. I
asked him what was on & he replied "A soap."
I didn't understand but, before I could ask for clarification he said "Look,
look--this dragon wearing a hairnet, you want to hear her!"
That was my introduction to Coronation Street--probably episode three. For
the next seven years I followed it faithfully, just like Cliff Richard [who, I
believe, has never missed an episode] until birds & booze played a more major
part in my life.
Roll forward to about 1978-9 when my governor at the fire station got me back
into the Weatherfield fold by watching Stan Ogden & Eddie Yeats try to get the
better of Hilda, & selling it to the rest of the watch! I've been hooked ever
since & I refuse to watch any other soap because I know how addictive they are
[unless they're Australian crap with their rising interrogative intonation @
the end of every sentence} & I get ratty if I miss an episode. Incidentally,
this last Thames Ring holiday, I missed more episodes than you can shake a
stick at due to poor reception--even in places where previously the signal was
O.K.
