Yesterday [18 July] I called into "The Old Mill" Berkhamsted, next door to
Debbi & Simon's Tiami moorings. With the weather hitting the 90's I naturally
gravitated towards a set of tables alongside the water that were in the blessed
shade, despite them being crowded [understandably] As we were attempting to sit
down @ these tables [my brother Phil & his wife Di were with me] a woman came
up to my left shoulder 7 asked me to sit @ one of the tables in the blazing
sunshine because a 'team building exercise' was taking place @ the tables I was
attempting to sit down at!
When I began to object that this was a public place, I was then asked to keep
the noise down for the same reason! I again informed this woman that I was in a
public place in a public house & that no-one had the right to tell me where I
may sit or what I might say. Needless to say she backed off amongst a chorus of
tuts & shaking heads from the 'team'
What a bloody cheek, not content with taking up all the mooring spaces
outside the pub,they then attempt to dominate the pub garden.
All this 'bonding crap' is something introduced from the States--we managed
perfectly well before the tree-hugging, cous-cous eating, Peruvian hat-wearing
brigade appeared on the scene [with apologies to Nick Ferrari, LBC radio]
