Day 30 - Sunday 22nd July 2006

We got off at 07:30, and after calling Ocean Lock found that we would be let
out after a coaster was brought up. When we arrived at the lock a Sobriety
trip boat called Pride of Hull was also waiting. They were going to go into
the marina, and use that as a base to give local kids trips up the River
Hull.

We were soon in, and on the tideway at 07:53. After cutting some corners,
the other boat was left behind a little, but always in sight until we pulled
into the River Hull at 10:51. The Humber was calm, but a light mist, made
spotting the colour of the lightships against the sun hard. There was still
a lot of water in the River Hull, and so we got straight up. We laid
alongside the only barge in Old Harbour, an old wreck of a sand barge.

The other boat didn't join us in Old Harbour, so I guess they either
continued down the river, to come back up with the flood, or pulled into the
marina entrance to sit on the mud.

The tide continued to run out for a long while, and eventually we started to
settle on the bottom. We slacked the ropes so the boat would slide out into
deeper water, and waited for the tide to turn, which it did at about 13:00.

We left at 15:15, and made good progress up the river. We reached slack
water around Stoneferry, as well as our friends from Goole who had picked
some people up, and while we were waiting for the tide had gone up the
river.

We had a sunny, and dry run up the river, but at times it nearly did rain.
The weed was fine all the way up, but it did start to get heaver as usual
after Wilfholme Landing.

Chris had the bridge ready for us as well as a welcoming committee - which
sang us through the bridge. We went straight on to our mooring, arriving at
19:25. I now have to load up the car and drive back to London - work
tomorrow!
