Hmmm, last time I went through Wardle lock (many years ago), it woz 10:30pm in a hire boat and dark! The lights came on and this nice lady appeared from the cottage and enquired if we would like to buy some apple pies.... As we knew we shouldn't be travelling after dark in a hire boat, we decided that buying a pie or two might be a sensible thing to do.
