Day 36 - Saturday August 5th - Rugby to Napton
16 miles 6 furlongs, 3 locks, 5 hours 45 minutes
Very late start today, as I didn't get back to the boat until gone
2.00pm. Set off at 2.45pm, and through the Hillmorton three by 4pm.
Not helped by the crew of one boat trying to fill a lock with one of the
bottom gate paddles open. I thought that the crew of the other boat
ascending the other lock out to have noticed something wrong. I know
that when I am working through a paired lock I am aware of what is going
on in the other one. Turned right at Braunston Turn at 6.15pm, and
after eventually passing the collection of moored relics on the offside
was able to press on. I wanted to get to the Folly Pie pub while they
were still doing food - tight, but doable. I passed Napton Junction
just before 8pm, and was moored up at the beginning of the line of
moored boats by 8.40pm. A quick change and a dash along the towpath saw
me in the Folly just after 8.50pm for a good pie and some beer while
talking to some other boaters.
