"Canal builders remembered
Yesterday the Mayor of Huddersfield, Councillor Margaret Bates,
unveiled a plaque at Aspley Basin, Huddersfield, commemorating the
many workers who died during the building of the Huddersfield Broad
Canal and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
She rode to the unveiling on BW's narrowboat `Warde Aldham' - a new
inspection boat that has been equipped with both diesel and battery-
electric power units as a testbed for research into alternative boat
propulsion systems."
