I went over to fill up the boiler this afternoon - and met them just
going through the lock! with the two older children getting the boat
into the lock on their own without touching the sides and the parents
watching from the bank. I caught up with them again at the bottom of the
flight, where the youngest daughter was steering into the bottom lock
with her father standing on the counter watching her - she did bump
slightly once.... I suggested the children ought to get together to
write a trip report for one of the waterways magazines to show how it
could be done.
