Date - 30 Aug 06
Day - Wednesday
Start - 0900 Abingdon
End - 1830 Enslow
--
Last night we ate in town at a restaurant called "The Broad Face" This is
situated just to the west of the river on the approach to the bridge. The
food was very good and the service likewise.
We left with "Lord Toulouse" at 9 am this morning and joined the queue
for Abingdon Lock, they were only locking two boats through at a time
apart from a Dutch Barge who went by himself. As Andrew and Wendy have
to be in Braunston by Sunday we let them go in before us. We were to see
the back of them at almost every lock for the rest of the day. We had to
wait at all the Thames Locks until we got into Oxford and then things
changed, we went straight into Godstow and King's Lock and then turned
hard right into Dukes cut. Just as we approached the Oxford Canal at 2-15 I
received a text from Andrew saying there was a queue of 5 at Duke's Lock.
He had come throughOxford and was two boats ahead of me. He stopped soon
afterwards to fill with water but we continued on to moor at "The Rock
of Gibraltar" in Enslow where we found "Draco" already moored for the
night, so we will eat with them in the pub tonight.
