We set off from our South Stoke overnight mooring and headed to Benson lock
where we had arranged to collect Matt and Rosie who were joining us for the
day. The weather remained good all day and none of the 'post national' lock
queues were really bad.
Rosie had a go at steering Jannock and handled her well, even completing a
slalom around an oncoming cruiser whilst overtaking a slower boat at the
same time.
Today Jannock achieved another 'long term objective' (two in one year!). She
went as far as she could up the river Thame at Dorchester. Considering that
we live in Thame, this is the nearest that Jannock is ever likely to get to
our house without the use of a lorry.
Once we had reversed back out, we continued on our journey to Sandford where
we moored above the lock.
I then did a car shuffle back to Beale Park on the NEW Di Blasi (spent too
much at the festival :^) and returned ready to go for an evening meal at the
pub alongside Sandford lock.
Unfortunately this pub had closed the day before and so we had to take a
trip in the car for our evening meal. Found a great Gales pub (the George)
just a mile up the road from Sandford where both the beer and food were
excellent and the bill for 6 persons came to under 50 quid. Can't complain
at that!
