We do most of our boating with a nb on the K&A [ie wide locks] but
we've never received any such advice from a BW employee. In fact
we've invariably found them helpful and often with a ready quip. The
only time we've been even mildly criticised was when we paused for a
plate of sandwiches in a lock on the way down Caen Hill. As we were
the last boat down that day I have no doubt that the lockie was
anxious to get the flight shut up for the night, so that was fair
enough.
