The New York State Barge Canal or Erie will remain funded and
constroled by the New York Thruway Commision which receves tolls in the
amount of 2 billion dollers a year and sets aside a portion to fund its
Canal Division. The house bill to spin it off as a seperate corperation
failed to reach the floor.
