That is indeed best to write to your MP because you can ask
them to make presentation to the Minister responsible on
your part and that Ministry is then required to reply and,
in turn your MP has to reply back to you. Imagine what a
pain in the next that becomes; if every MP received a
1,000 letters, Defra would have to send out 600,000 responses.
That it partially why if is important to use your own words and
try to make a different point so that the Ministry has to
think about the reply.
While, it seems, that writing to Ministers has less of an impact
I reckon it is still worth the price of a stamp. But I think that
letter should be to Gordon Brown; ultimately it is he that has
decided not to absorb these cuts from the Contingency fund that
he must have to cover for such unforseen circumstances.
Remember, the entire BW grant is only £60 million, the equivalent
of a pint of beer per year per household. So to make up the costs
of the actual cuts, its the cost of a cup tea.
How about Mr Brown, how about coming up with the price of a cup of
tea and save 180 jobs and our Waterways? This after
all, as you keep telling us, a thriving economy.
Cheers
