On a recent trip whilst passing through Middlewich I ended up chatting to
another boater in a GRP boat which had seen better days. It transpired that
he had recently bought the boat in Lancaster unseen and was in the process
of moving it to Oxford (to live on in the outskirts?).
Having travelled down the Lancaster to Preston he then found that there was
a gap in the canal system! On contacting BW he was given a transit of the
Ribble Link within four days and duly crossed the Ribble to Tarleton. All
this with no previous boating experience, on a boat only just purchased (for
buttons if appearances were anything to go by) and with a small outboard
that took four attempts to start as he left us.
Oh and by the way, did I know the way to Oxford.
