Good to hear from you. The easiest way to find out who your MP is and write a letter to him is to visit: http://www.writetothem.com/ As for tips as to what to include there are a number on our website www.SaveOurWaterways.org.uk. The key is to include one or two of the main issues in your letter and, importantly, ask your MP to raise the matter with the Minister concerned. In the letter I wrote to my MP, I asked why the losses incurred by Defra's mismanagement of the payment of EU subsidies to farmers is being passed on to BW and EA. My second question was why Treasury hasn't used the Contingency Reserve to cover these losses. Use phrases that indicate describe your personal feelings about how the waterways improve the quality of life for citizens from all walks of life.(Its not just about boats!) > I would willingly send out two letters to anyone, where it migh make a > difference but I need a starting point. > > It is not reasonable that Canal Enthusiasts groups, spend years restoring > a canal in their areas, then it's taken over by BW and after years of > dedicated work, THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US ENJOY, gets closed down by > parliament by persons, so remote, that they do not realise the devistation > and disapointment to litterally 1000's of people who will become affected, > if this state of affairs isn't halted. > That's just the sort of thing you should tell your MP. By the way, its not thousands of people that enjoy the waterways. BW estimates are that there were 30 million visitors last year. > INFO: I'm "Up the Wendover Arm" at the moment. Not that we are aware of at the moment. Are you going to be there long enough to organise a rally yourself? We will have some flyers soon and when they are ready we will need all the help that we can get to get them distributed around the waterways.
