When things seem as bad as possible, they will surely get worse.
On R4 this morning was a report on the Audit Commission's
investigation into the Rural Payments Agency fiasco. The outfit (and
especially its IT) appears to be even more of a disaster than was
thought.
If I heard right (it was 6:00, after all), the AC is cautioning that
the RPA may not even be able to get its payments system running by
*next* year's deadline!
Does this mean another round of, er, unexpected demands on DEFRA's
budget next year, which will again be shovelled off on to other and
innocent organisations under its dubious care?
I think we should be told.
Have a nice day.
