Hi Folks, Just passing Weedon as I write this short email. I left Northolt Tuesday night stopping at Bulls Bridge for the night to do some shopping. Left 6am, picked up a friend from work from Uxbridge at 8am, and after a long, hard, but dry day reached Winkwell in the dark.
We ate in the Hemel Hempstead Moat House restaurant, which was more like a hotel bar - but I enjoyed the food, and settled down for an early night. Another 6am rise, and after reaching Berko the heavens opened. It stopped shortly afterwards, and we continued the climb up the Chilterns, and back down again. Most of the day consisted of missed opportunities, but at least we didn't have any real hold-ups. I swapped crew at Leighton Buzzard, picking up my Dad, but leaving my friend. Continued up to Milton Keynes, where we spent the night with some friends there. Another 6am start, and this time is was pouring with rain. It did fizzle out by the time we reached Cosgrove lock though, and eventually turned into a nice sunny day. A bit of a hold up at Stoke Bruerne locks, reaching the top at about 12:30. It's now just gone 3pm, and we are just leaving Weedon. We should reach Braunston tonight without to much trouble (assuming a clean run up and back down the locks again), after which my Dad drives back to Hull to go on the Bethellls Bridge Boat Club cruise to Beverley Beck.
