I took the poster and the petition to KB on Saturday and found I was pushing an
open door. :-) When I mentioned it to the manager he showed me a copy of the
edm and a sample letter to your MP that he has been sent by his boss. He
gladly put up the poster I brought, and displayed the petition (on its
clipboard) on the office counter. He said he'd photocopy my poster and put it
up in several places. Ken and I signed the petition to set the ball rolling
and by the end of the night several pages had been filled.
I am sorry that I did not get to read your reply, Will, before we left as Ken
drove into Alrewas for fish and chips on Friday night and we could have called
in for the extra petitions etc. I hope to be back on Friday afternoon and will
phone if I can call and see you.
I have seen Pendle Magic but ASFAIAA I have not met Arthur yet. We are still
new there and are just finding our feet. Ken compered the karaoke night for
them as the local school band let them down, so a few more people will
recognise us. Were you there Arthur? We will be moving berth to Andrew 's
jetty soon to accommodate a disabled boater.
I am getting full co-operation from the marina owners and managers, so maybe
some funding may be forthcoming there? We have no clubhouse so organising
fundraising events is more difficult than we are accustomed to, but
nevertheless Saturday's efforts raised a tidy sum for local charities. Towpath
Telegraph is prominent in the office and the coverage for sow is great. Mike
gets a whole page.
We have cut our ties to Ashwood, but I may call on some old friends to see if
anything is being done there, and if appropriate I can drop in some things.
