This isn't the place to get into devolution / independance etc etc.. 

But as someone born in Brighton and living and working in Scotland for
over 15 years I would say:

I grew up with, lived and worked with people from Scotland, Wales and
Ireland all around me. I had a Scottish primary school teacher. We all
got on fine.

In Scotland - I have found large numbers of English, Welsh and Irish
people similarly living and working happily - as long as they don't
try to do things " like we do them back home in .....".

The British and Irish have worked together for hundreds of years to
create Britain as we know it - warts and all - British Empire, etc
etc, from the days of Brindley ( English ) and Telford ( Scottish ).

So let's just all work together in a civilised manner.
