Hi,

Be careful when buying what is described as heating oil, as for general
domestic use you could have either 28 sec Kerosene or 36 sec Gas oil, the
first is more likened to paraffin, and the second diesel I have used 36 sec gas
oil with no problems, I have also added a small amount of 28 sec to it as a
mixture which will help to prevent waxing in cold weather, you can also use
petrol to do a similar thing but this can have a effect on the diesel pump it
actually has a cleaning effect which stops the lubrication that naturally comes
from the diesel itself, paraffin on the other hand does not, hope this helps.
You do need to check your manufactures recommendations on this subject as these
are only my personal experiences and they may not work for you so be careful

: Two months ago I was quoted 53p/litre for heating oil in small (25
: litre) quantities or 48p in 205 litre drums (+£10 for the drum.) Am

Will you need to modify the fuel control on the Kabola, We have a
Dickinson range and as far as I can make out they don't do a needle valve
for heating oil as the viscosities differ but until now I have not pursued
  it.
With respect to the down draft, I sometimes have a problem when cruising
in high winds when we pass under a bridge and the stove blows out, but I
only have a short single walled chimney on and the stove is running at
  tick over
