Stratford involves doing Hatton straight off but IMHO the South
Stratford is very attractive even if a bit shallow and bendy with narrow
bridge 'oles.

As I said, my personal pick would be to turn right at Wigram's Turn and
head down the Oxford rather than left to Braunston and Coventry. There
are possible turning points at Fenny Compton, Cropredy and Banbury among
others. I come from the "Locks are fun"school of boating so find the
run through Braunston to Coventry with only Hillmorton and Sutton's Stop
to do less than exciting. However as we all keep saying, there are
other views :-)} If you do find you have time in hand on the way back
you could always go up to Braunston or just motor beyond Kate Boats to
the bottomof Hatton and just look!!

That's where either of the possible trips is good. You (within reason)
just turn round when you've used half your time. 47ft will turn in
quite a few palces other than official winding holes.

It's still on line. You can find it via my rather out-of-date website

> Do you still have nb Thorn?

No I sold Thorn and the butty Persephone last summer and now have a 57
foot Northwich replica named Virgo. I was very sad to let T&P go but
my needs had changed and Virgo now suits me better. Thorn was very
much a solo boater's boat.
There are some pictures of Virgo at http://www.firstlight.plus.com/virgo

That's about right. I bought Thorn in September 1996 having done the
trip on DC in the May.

I still moor at Warwickshire Fly Boats at the bottom of the Stockton
Flight. I'm spending quite a lot of the time living aboard and would be
pleased to help you up the flight if I'm here or indeed to help in any
other way.
