: Hi,
:
: We intend to take our boat out of the water this Spring and believe it
may be time to have the sides over plated does anyone know a marina where
we could arrange for doing this sort of work ourselves as we were thinking
it would be perhaps cheaper to purchase the metal and arrange for a welder
to do the work with our assistance, has anyone done anything like this
themselves as we would welcome any advice and also does anyone know a
free-lance welder etc.

: any advice would be welcome, we moor at Napton

Do you think you would actually save anything after paying the welder,
buying the steel and paying for the hard standing. Also there is the
insurance angle. How would you be fixed if the boat went up in flames
using a elf employed welder compared to a yard doing it.
I had a wander round Braunston last week and see they have a set-up to do
rebottom/overplating on a stand so its about 2 foot off the ground.
Maybe ken could advise
