Well there is that Section in Rochester NY where the Erie Canal Crosses the
Gennesee river....When the gennesee river is at flood stage and 15-17 knots
things can get preety hairy expecilay with a huge dam downstream

AIUI, the Lea is the river; the Lee is the navigation. In only a
relatively small part of the length is the navigation in the river
bed, let alone in the natural course.
