Will, I am hoping that once you have had the opportunity of considering more
carefully what you have written here, that you may come to regret on this
list (of all lists!) intimating the behaviour of a 'troll' to someone merely
because they disagree with your interpretation of facts.

Be that as it may, my major concern here, if what you say is correct, is
that you seem to have been made party to a professional conversation I had
with a contact. If this is the case, it is entirely inappropriate, and
indeed highly embarrassing to the party concerned. As I hope you now know, I
have made representations about this.

On your other point, no, I did not make, nor am I intending to make, any
select committee representations regarding my views on BW funding. These
views are well known, and I have had the opportunity of raising them, and I
have been invited to raise them, on a number of occasions recently in a
political context. Besides, what limited time I can afford to spend on
waterways affairs at the moment is being used making representations on the
re-organisation of the IWA.

This is so that the next time something like the DEFRA cuts happen, there
will be a leaner, fitter democratic membership-based organisation ready to
fight for the rights of waterways users in a way consistent with its long
radical tradition.

My views on this are pretty public too.

Steve
