Tsk! The plural of "bus" is "buses". "Busses" is the plural of
"buss", which has very little to do with carrying passengers
(although, pace Mr Flanders, both of them might involve a transport of
delight)..

Adrian,
You're my man! I was going to bring that up but couldn't be bothered
ultimately. The first time I saw 'busses' or 'bussed' spelt thusly was in a
report about bringing children into another school's catchment area. For this
we have to thank our American cousins who suffer from 'verbiation' they can't
see a noun without trying to make a verb out of it. "Do you folks want to
*weekend* at our place?" Yeeuucchh!

One last item about buses, or rather trams now. In 1952 my mum took me [4] &
my elder brother [8] on one of the last London Trams. As we approached the
underground tram depot in Kingsway my brother announced that there was a
monster waiting to eat us up. I looked ahead, saw that the tram tracks went
down this slope & into the dark. Cue me to have a screaming fit to get off the
tram before we were gobbled up!
