<snip> My experience was much the same. These things appear not to be durable. Apart from their short life, mine soon started to make a very tedious noise as the under-engineered bearings in the fan motors wore out. The only way to stop it (as there was no "off" switch") was to put something over the thing to keep the sun off it. And these were of a normally reputable national brand. Not recommended.
