Our village pub is of course a no smoking area but they kindly put up
heaters on the OUTSIDE of the front walls so that the smokers wouldn't get
too cold. Fair enough, I don't mind them wasting money heating the village
but the smokers ignore the large ashtrays provided by the pub and throw
their fag ends on the pavement beyond the little wall in the front of the
pub. We take a pride in our village and it has got be said that the presence
of an ever growing mess of dog ends on the pavement next to a primary school
does not make for a harmonious relationship between the pub and the
residents.
Making pubs no smoking is fine but you often still have to run the gauntlet
of a smokey atmosphere to get inside.

Good luck in England with the ban, Ann
