I am always amazed at the lack a knowledge about tying up in a flow.
Always tie the upstream part of the boat first, or else the flow will
drag the boat out again. As a regular single hander on strong tidal
rivers, I manage OK because I know what I'm doing!

I should mention here that a couple walking past with their dog 'volunteered'
to pull the back in. The boat was already safely parallel to the mooring but
their enthusiastic tug caused the front to swing out & you know the rest.
Please don't assume I don't know what I'm doing--it's bad enough being
criticised on computering without my boating skills being called into question!
