Aylesbury ducks, presuably? Seriously, it has been suggested that the reason the Aylesbury Arm was built narrow was because it was seen as the first part of the Western Junction, which was proposed as a link to the narrow-beam Wilts & Berks at Abingdon (*). But I'm not sure what evidence there is for this. Anyone know? Martin (*) which in turn may have been influenced by the narrow-beam Somersetshire Coal Canal
