The current practice seems to be :- preserve it by putting it in plastic bags, then hang it from a branch in a tree. Left to its own devices it breaks down rapidly. The only reason I remove it (by shovel into the cut) is if it is where people are likely to tread in it. Sue nb Nackered Navvy
