As my *guess* (which may be rubbish), the solar panel may be increasing the voltage across the system, albeit while delivering a very small amperage. The controller may be sensing this high voltage, and assuming that it means that the battery is fully charged when it actually isn't, and thus reducing the amperage the alternator is putting out. It might be worth disconnecting the solar panel when the engine is running. Adrian Adrian Stott 07956-299966
