Our small 240 volt cleaner was brought years ago and used for the car before 
we had a boat. It featured in a most interesting article in New Scientist about 
'Penal injury due to use of small vacuum cleaners'  Looking at the beast one 
could understand how these injuries could happen as just 6" up the cleaners 
female connector for the suck tube was a sharp-edged metal fan powered by the 
motor which would act like a chopper if things got excited into expanding too 
far...
   
   I wonder if H&S do checks for this sort of thing with modern cleaners.
