Hi Dorothy We found ourselves in a similar position. When we bought the boat
we were told that the owner only used it on electric. Later examination showed
that the elec wasn't even connected! However we wanted to use it with gas so
it didn't hum (like Amos' ) or depress the batteries. It has given trouble
l(ighting up mostly) from time to time so we asked a gas engineer to look at
it. After much sucking of breath etc he vacuumed out the various gubbins at
the back and managed to light it. We too had tried to find a fridge expert but
hens' teeth were out of season.

When the thing inevitably happened again we tried to do what the gasman had
done, and managed to light it again. Next time there was no hope so we went
back in desperation to the old tried and tested. We pulled it out, turned it
upside down and left it for a day or two. Then we put it back up the right
way, and tried again. Lit first time, and has run better than we've known it
since we had it (4 years).

Hope this helps.

Subject: [canals-list] Electrolux fridge - help wanted

  Hello, all

I wonder if anyone has experience of trying to get a gas fridge fixed? Mine
is an Electrolux model RM4206 and I think it is just the ignition that has
  failed.
