Just back and chilling out with a big glass of chilled white wine after another day at the Ricky Festival.
With the help of Chiltern IWA we collected just over 1400 signatures on the South West Herts constituency petition over the weekend. There was a lot of interest and support from local people and visitors and also many boats were also displaying SOW banners. David Gauke our local MP has agreed to present this petition from the floor of the House of Commons during June. We are hoping that there are more constituency petitions out there who will take up time in the house to get the message across regarding the funding of the inland waterways before decisions are made on public funding at the Comprehensive Spending Review in September. Thanks to Clive Fennell and his team for putting on a very enjoyable festival with great entertainment (Friday night was great fun but we didn't get to hear a lot of the rest although we heard it was very good indeed). Thanks also to Mike Stevens for his SOW linked quiz on Friday night and his talks in the floating classroom. Also saw a lot of list members and other local boaters so all in all a very enjoyable and productive weekend. Don't forget that the battle isn't over yet! Ok, who's going to Wendover?
