I moored with Bath Narrowboats for a while and I concur. They are a helpful friendly lot, but what they can do for you is severely curtailed by their neighboiurs who must be among the biggest to$$ers on the whole canal system. They objected BN planned to instal a floating dry dock while I was there. They also objected to any work being done on a boat which involved any sort of noise. They even used to object to people taking their boats out, and they HATED people using the winding hole there as a... well, as a winding hole. These people bought their houses when the K&A was just a backdrop to the property, the canal a sort of private lake, and they hate it now it's a working canal. One bloke had made a balcony of a canal level warehouse loading bay, and whenever I used to moor the boat he used to come out of the house and stand at the door, staring at me accusingly for absolutely no reason. Eventually, when I left, I could bear it no longer, and opened the JP3 up with rather satisfying results regarding the application of large amounts of water to his balcony, his feet and I suspect, his internal decor. Naughty, I know. I am most embarrased to admit it ;-) Steve [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
