Foxton Locks Inn by the bottom lock is one to avoid in my book - too
modern and the food was mediochre and overpriced when we tried it. The
Black Horse, in Foxton village, is a nice village local with reasonably
priced food, frequently has live music of the folky genre on Fridays
and Sundays.

As you're going anti-clockwise, either Kilby Bridge, or King's Lock a
bit further north are good places to stop overnight before Leicester.
If you want to stay overnight in Leicester itself, there are pontoon
moorings by Castle Gardens. I know several people who have stayed there
with no problems.

On the Soar, Mountsorrel, Barrow and Zouch have decent moorings. There
are also good rural moorings by Junction Lock (47) if memory serves.

Alrewas is a good place for an overnight stop, I remember having an
excellent (and very hot) curry in one of the pubs. There is also a
decent range of shops for a village, including an excellent butcher if
you want to stock up on meat.

We're pootling about in the Foxton area at the moment, so give us a
toot if you see us.
