Stourport Co-op received the thumbs up from Mrs B after its refurbishment. She
took the chance to do some shopping for this summer’s trip on Uncle Mort which
started today and will finish tomorrow. Oh how we love these long and gruelling
voyages.

By the time we arrived at the boat the bits of blue sky had disappeared. It was
raining within 30 minutes. Nevertheless we were determined to get going and set
off just after 2pm with the waterproofs donned. Only about 5 boats seen moving
during the trip of 10 miles and 9 bridges.

Saul moorings were quite busy with the wrinkled and bedraggled desponds left
over from the aborted festival.

We found Sharpness much less busy than usual at this time of year, especially
since the annual Lydney trip is scheduled for this weekend. The advance
bookings added up close to 30 but most of them did not make it to the G&S.
Uncle Mort is not going this year but it’s nice to huddle among the intrepid
skippers.

Today’s crossing was cancelled (on grounds of wind) though at least the locks
onto and off the estuary are deemed functional. Another trip is scheduled
tomorrow with passage into the docks at 10am and high tide around 12:40. We’ll
probably hang around to observe. And another one also planned for Saturday –
standing by for news from Martin of Boden.

The weather outlook is less than encouraging.

PS - is it me or is Mr Holt posting from the future ?
