The following stoppage has been revised: Ashton Canal Locks 1 to 18 (Lock 10)
"colin wareing" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message news:[EMAIL PROTECTED] : Hiya all, : : For anyone up north as is interested, Since last Thursday afternoon the Cheshire ring has been closed to the east of Manchester due to a tail gate on Lock 10 of the Ashton having been damaged. The damage is very low down on one of the gates so how it happened is a bit of a mystery. We've been hanging around on a nice mooring at Piccadilly village in Manchester in the hope that it would be fixed, but a walk up on Tuesday afternoon to lock 10 revealed no obvious sign of progress so we're going back down the Rochdale nine. After giving the North West Wrgies a lift paper chasing on Sat we're going to do the ring the other way around in the hope the Ashton will be open again by October. >From BW Date: 05/07/2007 until further notice Description: Further to the boat collision incident at Lock 10 on the Ashton Canal, work has commenced to remove the damaged tailgate. This week the gate will be transported to our offsite workshop for repair. Whilst works are undertaken the cills and pots within the lock will be inspected for any damage and any necessary repair work carried out. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the damage, we expect the navigation to be closed for up to 3 weeks. However we will issue weekly updates on progress. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. .
