The canal is said to be closed at the top end, above Saul, due to heavy cross-currents from feeders (some of them formerly unknown). We've still got water at home, but in case of emergency there's enough wine in the cellar to see us through to Christmas. Could someone wake us up when it's all over? In view of our earlier plan to go up river next week, I'm about to book flights to Spain (or anywhere warm) for the family. B'lox to England.
