Day 6 - 23 August 2007
Ely to EA Moorings near Little Thetford

We had a trip on the Nene Valley Railway today. Yes, I know, we passed
Peterborough a couple of days ago – but we were in a rush to meet the
Salters Lode booking. We got on a train heading for Peterborough with
an overcast sky, but by the time we reached March the sun was shining
– summer was back!

We bought some lunch in Asda as we walked to the NVR, and ate in the
shadow of a hover-train on the Railworld site next to the NVR station.
It didn't take long before the train arrived, and we had a nice and
pleasant run to Yarwell in the sun. It did come overcast later, but
only thin cloud.

On the way back to Ely the sky darkened, and before we reached March
the ground was wet. We arrived back in Ely in winter like weather. I
wanted to find somewhere quieter for the night, and so continued up
the river a little further. The flow was noticeably stronger now, and
the river was up a couple of inches. We passed the now removed railway
bridge, and before long passed Soham lode, and then found the EA
moorings just beyond.

It was still windy, and some waves were on the river. It later rained
lightly, at least it stayed dry during our trip.
