We again left at 8:30 our expensive moorings turned out to be free. We were the
first at Boulters lock. Roger saw two boats behind and stopped halfway down and
too far from any bollard I was likely to reach. The locky said to me why did
you stop here? Ask the crew was my reply. To which he answered, don't you mean
the skipper! As you like we aren’t speaking. At which another couple of boats
came round the corner.
We came to Cliveden reach brested up when suddenly the little boat decided to
steer itself, straight for a very nice tupperware cruiser. A shout of 'get up
here quick' just averted a nasty accident. The boats were bought under control
and Roger tied the small boat's tiller. As the boat had been correcting itself
he hadn't thought it necessary.
Cookham lock had no power. Locky had his crumpets for breakfast then the power
went off. He was told it would be for a couple of hours. He had the boaters
manning the wheels where possible. When we got to Temple lock there was a
notice that said ufn so that could be fun tomorrow. We brested up after
Boulters for the rest of the trip.
